Intermission - Fibres West 2011
We are taking a quick break from the catwalk to sip a glass of champagne (that’s what all the fashion people drink) and tell you about another textile event that is being held in Bunbury the week following the 11th Southern Hemisphere Felting Convergence.

Fibres West is proud to present its seventh residential event, to be held in the scenic and relaxing natural environment of the Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School in Western Australia. This is a fantastic opportunity to participate in one of ten workshops with renowned Australian and International textile and fibre tutors. Tutors are: Akira Blount (USA) Personal Stories, The Evocative Nature of Doll Making; Ruth Hadlow (West Timor) Samples, Strategies and Stories; Cathy Hoffmann (VIC) Interpreting Photoshop Images Through Woven Tapestry; Lissa Hunter (USA) Sculptural Works: Mapping your Creative Process; Anita Larkin (NSW) Multiple Resists with Felt; Marianne Little (VIC) Sculptural Books; Liz Maidment (FRANCE) Embroidering the Garden/Landscape/Flowers with Spray Painted Background; Charlene O’Brien (WA) Eco-Couture; Annie Rawle (WA) Expressionist Threads – Painterly Techniques in Applique and Machine Embroidery; Linda Stokes (WA) Mark-Making on Cloth – Extending Dye/Print Techniques.
SCHOLARSHIP:
Through the generosity of a benefactor, Fibres West is offering a scholarship to enable a deserving recipient to attend Fibres West 2011. The scholarship will be awarded to someone who is actively participating in the fibre arts community, either as a practitioner, someone involved with community groups, or a promising student. Applications are invited from people who, without the benefit of the scholarship, would be unlikely to be able to attend Fibres West 2011.
