Convergence is a gathering of felt makers and sharing knowledge is the underlying theme. It is four full days of immersion and indulgence in every aspect of felt making suitable for all levels of experience. Anyone interested in felt making and textiles should attend. There is no need to belong to a formal textile organisation or felting group. Just come along, learn, share, felt and have fun.

South West Fashion - Art to Wear Organic Fashion

This post should really be titled "Double Felt Double Fabulous" as it features this sleeveless jacket by Davida Palmer  being worn with a red felt necklace created by Kerry Gelmi.

We all are probably guilty of wearing too much black but doesn't the colour in the necklace and jacket really create a much more interesting and flattering look?

South West Fashion - Art to Wear Organic Fashion

Moving away from scarves, let's have a look at some of the jackets featured on the catwalk.

This long sleeveless vest is created from a mix of silk and merino wool.  We should make it clear that the merino wool is 100% Australian as the creator Lorraine McArthur is very committed to the promotion of the Australian wool industry which quite rightly she says produces the best wool  in the world  for making high quality felt for garments.

Saying that, we think this piece has a Japanese influence.

It also illustrates how wearable and light nuno felt is today, just look at the movement in these pictures -

This next scarf illustrates the versatility of felt in design and is different again from those featured in the last two posts.

The scarf is made from a fine slightly pleated red silk chiffon edged and embellished in thin lines with a mix of merino wool and silk.

Created by Jacqui Gibson.
