Convergence is a gathering of felt makers and sharing knowledge is the underlying theme. It is four full days of immersion and indulgence in every aspect of felt making suitable for all levels of experience. Anyone interested in felt making and textiles should attend. There is no need to belong to a formal textile organisation or felting group. Just come along, learn, share, felt and have fun.

Felt with the WOW Factor

Designer V Hornibrook Entry "A Circle of Vessels" WOW 2010

Designer K Gelmi Entry "SongLines" WOW 2010

Many attendees of the last Felt Convergence, held at Masterton New Zealand in September 2009, took the opportunity to visit the Montana World of WearableArt Awards Show (WOW).

Inspired by what they had seen, two members of The Bunbury Felters Group -Val Hornibrook and Kerry Gelmi, decided to enter the 2010 WOW; using felt for their creations of course!  Much excitement followed as they sent off their applications with photos and details of their garments and even greater excitement when they heard both entries had been accepted.

Their felt pieces  - a felt bra by Val Hornibrook and a felt cloak by Kerry Gelmi, were posted off to WOW in New Zealand and both made it to the catwalk of the 2010 Awards Show. Only 9 Australian entries made it to the final show and we are very proud that 2 of them are from our very own talented felters.

So to start off our Convergence year we will be showing you lots of their own photographs of World of WearableArt Awards Show 2010. If you want to know more about WOW click here.

Congratulations Val and Kerry - it's wonderful news and well deserved!!! You have certainly put Bunbury on the felting map.

Thank you for your comment Cait, we are certainly very proud of the talent that we have here in our little part of Western Australia. We also recognise the value of your praise as we have just checked out your own blog http://teaandtextiles.blogspot.com/ and see that you are a keen textile artist yourself.
