Convergence is a gathering of felt makers and sharing knowledge is the underlying theme. It is four full days of immersion and indulgence in every aspect of felt making suitable for all levels of experience. Anyone interested in felt making and textiles should attend. There is no need to belong to a formal textile organisation or felting group. Just come along, learn, share, felt and have fun.

Felt a Festival Scarf

Felters love making scarves.  The colour combinations  are endless and they give maximum opportunity for combining wool fibres with fabrics.  There's also the benefit that one size fits all which gets around all those tricky shrinkage issues.

If you haven't thought about entering the Reflections Scarf Festival 2010 run by the National Wool Museum in Geelong then now is the time to do so.

The "Reflections" theme is designed to get you thinking about your roots and consider where your artistic ideas come from.  There are a number of awards given with different categories including :
  • Best Felted Scarf
  • Best Use of Colours in a Scarf
  • Best Scarf Made Using Sustainable Practises
It is $15 per scarf to enter and all scarves are exhibited and can be offered for sale if you wish.

The Reflections Scarf Festival will run between 18 June and 25 July 2010.  If you are near Geelong at that time go along.  As well as the exhibition there are workshops running.   Geelong is also a lovely city to look around with lots to do.

These handsome Victorians are everywhere.

So check out the full details at http://www.nwm.vic.gov.au/ and get felting.  Entries have to be in by 24 May 2010 so you still have lots of time to create .

See you there.
