Convergence is a gathering of felt makers and sharing knowledge is the underlying theme. It is four full days of immersion and indulgence in every aspect of felt making suitable for all levels of experience. Anyone interested in felt making and textiles should attend. There is no need to belong to a formal textile organisation or felting group. Just come along, learn, share, felt and have fun.

World of WearableArt Awards Show 2010 Supreme Winner

To complete this series of posts on the WOW  Awards Show 2010 here is the Winner of the 2010 Montana Supreme World of WearableArt™ Award and Winner American Express Open Section,  It is titled Loops and was made by Yogesh Chaudhary and Manas Barve from India.

It is described as "a self-sufficient form of independence without any interference from foreign substances such as thread or glue".

In close up it looks like this -

What we find particularly thrilling about this piece is that is is made from merino wool felt.  Isn't it clever? It has been laser cut to create that futuristic lace like look.  Another great example of how versatile felt is.

Here are the creators of the piece with our own felter, photographer and WOW entrant - Kerry Gelmi -

Kerry tells us that Yogesh and Manas were charming young men and that the first thing they did on hearing that their entry was the 2010 Supreme Winner was to ring their families back in India.

Congratulations guys.
