Convergence is a gathering of felt makers and sharing knowledge is the underlying theme. It is four full days of immersion and indulgence in every aspect of felt making suitable for all levels of experience. Anyone interested in felt making and textiles should attend. There is no need to belong to a formal textile organisation or felting group. Just come along, learn, share, felt and have fun.

And Now Some Felt

Things have been a bit wordy lately on the blog.  We don't apologise for this because its purpose is to communicate on all the Convergence matters but we know you also like to see some great felt.

So to add some colour here's a great felt bag.

Happy New Year

Detail from Nuno Vest - Designer M Foss

We thought the above picture was an appropriate way of starting off the Convergence Blog for 2011 as the stunning spray of colour makes us think of the Sydney New Year fireworks.

You may have noticed  that the Blog has been in holiday mode lately, but while the Blog has been lying in the proverbial sun the Convergence Committee have been hard at work to make the 11th Southern Hemisphere Felting Convergence a festival of felt.

The Information and Enrolment Form has now been sent out to everyone who has registered their interest in attending the Convergence so if you haven't received yours yet email the Convergence Convener at feltconvergence2011@westnet.com.au .

We have very talented tutors for you including Liz Clay and Anita Larkin and a full program to expand your felting capabilities whilst you enjoy yourself surrounded by talented textile enthusiasts.

So keep looking in at us here to see more details of the Convergence and lots of wonderful felt of course.

Colours of Nature

Although we love colour in our felting it's nice to work in warm earthy tones as well. Just look at these -

Felting Inspiration - The Garden

A garden is a wonderful place for inspiration.  Just walk outside and you are  sure to find something that will get your fingers itching to get round some wool roving.  It's a certain cure for felter's block.

Just look at this canna lily.

What colour!  They can be recreated with a little help from Kraftkolour's excellent Landscape Dyes.  We chose Citrus, Grevillea and Wattle.

Then a little felting-

Voila, the finished piece-

Or should we say canna!

Colour

There are times when we want to work entirely in neutral shades with greys and taupe and cream but at the moment we have been getting the dye pots out and indulging in colour.  Just take a look.

This is a close up of the dyed silk on a nuno scarf-
